CMS Features
The Content Management System has the following features.
- Content is entered directly in a browser with a WYSIWYG editor for IE and FireFox downgrading to a text view for older browsers
- The CMS generates xHTML and is DDA-aware. Look and feel is controlled by templates and CSS. Different styles can apply to different templates for more display options. It is not possible to hard-code font sizes and colours when altering text.
- User-controlled content is defined within templates. These are shown as hotspots to make entering the text easy.
- Templates can contain other templates to give consistent headers or navigation on a page. Pages can be marked as inline to show content from one source across many pages.
- Attachments and images can be easily uploaded to the site. It is possible to associate thumbnails which link to images.
- There are several ways to link to other pages. A site map shows all pages in an explorer type view and a site search can be used.
- Users and roles can be set up to restrict which pages and attachments can be accessed
- Human-readable URLs can be used to make links to the site more readable (eg. propus.co.uk/page/cms_features)
- Emails are encrypted to stop spam-bots harvesting the information
- Pages can embed RSS feeds from other sites. Pages within a folder can be exported as an RSS feed.
- Powerful reporting for site usage and metrics. It is possible to drill down to show pages viewed in an individual user session.
- Pages can be marked as off-line until they are ready for publishing
- Moderated and unmoderated feedback can be shown on a page
